Chairman’s Update #11

The Yuba County Water Agency operates for the benefit of the people of Yuba County through fulfilling its primary mission of flood management, water supply, fisheries protection and enhancement, hydroelectric generation, and recreation.

To help educate people who work and live in Yuba County about YCWA’s mission, strategic plan, and historical benefits that it provides, the Agency has scheduled a series of informational meetings that aim to increase public awareness and provide a platform to a greater dialogue with the community.

On Sept. 20, YCWA hosted an informational dinner at the Alcouffe Center in Oregon House. Nearly 50 people from surrounding areas joined us for a presentation led by YCWA General Manager Curt Aikens. The presentation covered a wide range of topics relating to the Agency and its operations, and was concluded with a comprehensive question-and-answer period.

While this was just one of the first informational meetings, it was great to see so many people come out to learn about all of the different aspects of the Agency. All of us in attendance, including several YCWA directors and employees, appreciated the public’s interest.

YCWA is continuing to host informational meetings throughout Yuba County, so we encourage people to join us and participate. Our next meetings are tentatively scheduled for November, and will be held in Wheatland and Plumas Lake.
