Chairman’s Update #9
The Yuba County Water Agency’s Yuba River Development Project continues to impress me every time I have the opportunity to visit its facilities.
Last week, YCWA employees and I had the pleasure of hosting a tour of New Bullards Bar Dam and the New Colgate Powerhouse for water professionals from the Association of California Water Agencies.
About 30 ACWA board members and staff were welcomed by YCWA General Manager Curt Aikens, who provided an overview of all that the Agency does to serve the people of Yuba County.
Tour participants then experienced a behind-the-scenes look into the Project, while learning how its different components work in sync to provide flood protection for Yuba County and downstream communities, water supply for 60,000 acres of farmland, and enough carbon-free energy to power over 300,000 homes throughout the state.
Following the tour, I received an overwhelming amount of praise from tour participants, who were not only in awe of our facilities, but also the amount of pride and respect that YCWA’s employees hold themselves to.
I cannot begin to express how proud I am of the Agency, and the level of professionalism and knowledge our employees possess. I truly believe that we have some of the hardest working and best professionals in the industry.
