Chairman’s Update #13
Yuba County Water Agency works for the benefit of the people in this community. YCWA serves the people who live and work in Yuba County by providing flood protection, water supply, hydroelectric generation, fisheries protection and enhancement and recreation opportunities at our best-kept secret gem, New Bullards Bar Reservoir. But we are also constantly trying to protect your water and ensure that our voices are heard in statewide water policy issues.
In January, I will assume the presidency of the Association of California Water Agencies, which represents more than 90 percent of the state’s water agencies, and I find myself incredibly humbled by the honor of being selected for this, and really blown away by the idea that an Arboga boy could grow up to be at the helm of such a prominent, state-wide organization.
Not only will this appointment allow me to be a critical part of a leading voice on California water issues, but it will also position YCWA to be even more at the forefront of water policy.
This is really a critical time for California water policy, and this responsibility will ensure that we continue working collaboratively, developing partnerships with other agencies throughout the state, to ensure we protect and get the most value we can out of the natural resources we have been blessed with in Yuba County.
YCWA has big aspirations to make Yuba County a better place to live, work and play, and to improve the quality of life here for all of us. I am optimistic that this role will help ensure we are well-positioned to do just that.
